    • The US Army 25th Infantry Division Band

The 25th Infantry Division Band has a long and prestigious history. It is the second most highly decorated band in the US Army.

The band was constituted on October 12, 1943, in the United States Army as the 25th Infantry Division Band. On January 1, 1944 this organization was activated in New Zealand and in May of 1947 the band took its place at Schofield Barracks where it still resides today.

Today the “Tropic Lightning” Band is a regular participant in both military and civilian events on the Island of Oahu. It also travels extensively throughout the Pacific as a good will ambassador for the United States Government. The band has performed in South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, China, the Cook Islands, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, and the Republic of the Maldives. It was also the first US Army Band since World War II to perform in Myanmar. The Tropic Lightning Band was deployed to Haiti in Support of Operation Uphold Democracy and elements deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from July to August of 2004, and again from November of 2004 to January of 2005. The band's main duties consisted of touring the camps and forward operating bases around the country and performing in support of deployed troops in combat areas. The unit deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to COB Speicher near Tikrit, Iraq and supported coalition forces throughout MND North from November 2008 to October 2009. From December 2010 to December 2011, the band again deployed to Camp Liberty, Iraq in Support of Operation New Dawn.

The 25th ID Band performs over 300 commitments a year. Part of the unit's mission is to support international military exercises in locations such as India and Indonesia. The band strives to be the "sound of the division" throughout the Indo-Pacific motivating Soldiers, bolstering partnerships, and connecting American citizens to their Army.
