    A unique concert that combines ‘East-meets-West’ style: Chinese music element with Western jazz (30s-40s Shanghai jazz, and 50s-90s Hong Kong popular music), the concert is featuring renowned Hong Kong singers Suzan Guterres, Albert Cheung (大AL) and former Hong Kong singer Barinna Poon who will sing the golden songs of those years.
     
    Renowned Hawaii-based singer Cathy Foy and distinguished jazz pianist and composer Joshua Kaye will also be on stage to accompany the show, as well as three of Hawaii's finest resident ensembles.

    • Albert Cheung

      Albert's musical journey is nothing short of remarkable. Formerly the lead singer of the band 'JADE,' he transitioned from singing western pop music to becoming a prominent figure in the Cantonese pop scene during the 1960s-1970s. Renowned for his distinctive rough and husky voice, he earned the moniker 'Rod Stewart of the East.' His talent shone brightly as he was recognized at the 2nd and 3rd Hong Kong Gold Disc Award Presentations, standing alongside legends like Sam Hui, Roman Tam, and Paula Tsui Siu Fung. Despite a hiatus to delve into the restaurant business in mainland China during the 1990s, Albert's passion for music never waned. In 2004, he made a triumphant return to the stage, captivating audiences once more. His comeback was further solidified when he graced the stage of the 'Hall of Super Voices' show in 2006, a testament to his enduring and undeniable singing prowess.

      Big AL's presence has been predominantly felt in prestigious concert halls, captivating stages, and prominent television stations in recent years. Simultaneously, there has been a notable shift towards prioritizing education, community engagement, and charitable endeavors, with Big AL actively participating in volunteer services. This commitment to using their platform for positive impact showcases a commendable dedication to uplifting both the arts and society as a whole.

    • Suzan Guterres

      Suzan, the Celebrity Pop Sultry Vocalist from Hong Kong, has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide with her mesmerizing voice and captivating performances. Hailing from a family of music, Suzan's journey to stardom began when she emerged as the champion of the prestigious "Hong Kong Professional Lounge Vocalists Championship." Since then, she has soared to fame, securing a recording contract with Wing Hang Records and becoming a beloved actress on HKTVB. With her debut album "Please Stay Tonight" topping the charts, Suzan's talent and passion for music have solidified her status as a household name. Collaborating with icons like Chow Yun Fat, Jacky Cheung, and Teresa Carpio, Suzan's artistry knows no bounds.     • Barinna Poon

      Born in Hong Kong, Barinna is a renowned professional singer who captivated audiences with her performances of Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and Japanese pop music during the vibrant 1970s-1980s era in Hong Kong. Her talent shone brightly in 1988 when she was personally invited to lend her voice to the theme song of the popular ATV drama series, "Sister’s Love," a melody that resonated deeply with Hong Kong fans.

      Embarking on a musical journey that spanned across China, South-East Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America since the 1980s, Barinna eventually found her home in Hawaii in 1989. Not just a pop singer, Barinna wears the hat of the current president of the Hong Kong Business Association of Hawaii, where her passion for music and Chinese culture blossomed into grand events. Together with the association, she orchestrated four immensely successful Hong Kong pop concerts and musicals, drawing audiences of 700-830 music enthusiasts, a testament to Barinna's enduring impact and unwavering dedication to the rich tapestry of Chinese arts and culture.

    • Cathy Foy

      Singer Cathy Foy is a recording artist, film and television actress who's received accolades for her stage performances on Broadway and several local theaters. Cathy is a multifaceted entertainer and a former Miss Hawai'i.

    • Josh Kaye

      Joshua Kaye spent over a decade as a pianist in the San Francisco jazz scene before moving to Honolulu in 2008. He has been the bandleader for many tributes shows at Blue Note Hawaii including tributes to Steve Wonder, James Brown, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Nina Simone, and Aretha Franklin.
